½­ÄÏÌåÓý

The 2024 edition of the European School of Information Theory (ESIT) was organized by the Information and Communication Theory Lab (ICT Lab) at the Eindhoven University of Technology on July 1-5, 2024. The technical program consisted of a mix of tutorials (two 1.5-hour lectures), seminars (1-hour lectures), and industry sessions (1.5-hour sessions) by experts on topics of current interest in information theory and affiliated fields, e.g., communication and coding theory, machine learning and statistics, quantum information processing, and information-theoretic security. There were more than 80 registered participants from different European countries (the Netherlands, Germany, the UK, Norway, Sweden, Finland, France, Italy, Spain, Estonia, Poland, and Switzerland) as well as the USA and Canada.

The school featured tutorials by Prof. Prakash Narayan (Uni. of Maryland), Prof. Osvaldo Simeone (King’s College), Prof. Muriel Medard (MIT), Prof. Ken Duffy  (Northeastern), and Prof. Albert Guillén i Fàbregas, (Cambridge). The seminars were given by Prof. Marco Secondini (Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies), Prof. Si-Hyeon Lee (KAIST), Prof. Laurent Schmalen (KIT), and Prof. Mario Berta (RWTH Aachen). The industry session’s speakers were Prof. Andreas Burg (EPFL), Dr. Gianluigi Liva (DLR), Dr. Roel Maes (Synopsys), and Dr. Tim Genewein (DeepMind). Two poster sessions featured more than 40 poster presentations from participants.

The social program included a welcome reception, a networking dinner, and an excursion to Helmond to visit the medieval castle and the well-known cubical houses.
