We invite applications for a funded Ph.D. position and a funded post-doctoral position in Computer Science and Mathematics at the University of Neuch芒tel on the topic of distributed storage systems, starting in Winter 2015.听


Applicants for the Ph.D. position must have a Master鈥檚 degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent). Applicants for the post-doc position must have Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent). All applicants must have a good knowledge of English and strong team-working abilities.

Candidates who enjoy solving applied problems supported by theoretical results allowing a better understanding of the behavior and limits of communication systems are particularly encouraged to apply. This includes candidates knowledgeable in coding theory and its applications, information theory, security, networking, and/or distributed systems with solid programming skills. The candidates might also contribute to the development of large-scale proofs of concept and to their evaluation.

The University of Neuch芒tel is located in a beautiful landscape of lakes and mountains that offers a friendly atmosphere to about 4,000 students. The city of Neuch芒tel belongs to the French-speaking part of Switzerland and is located at the border of the German-speaking part of the country. The university has five academic faculties: Humanities, Science, Theology, Law, and Economics. Courses at the Computer Science Institute are taught in English, in the context of the Swiss Joint Master of Science in Computer Science.
